The Lord is with you, while ye be with Him; and if ye

Him, He will forsake you.

Praying "in the name of Jesus" is not merely loose words of magic or something quick
and instant that will bring God on the scene. Yet, often times, we tend to use those
words without really knowing what we are truly communicating to God.  We wonder
why God doesn't instantly answer us. Praying "in the Name of Jesus" is praying what
Jesus wills for you to pray. If the heavens seem like brass to you;
before going to Our
Father In Heaven in prayer, consider Jesus first; after all, He is the one who died on the
cross and saved us from our sins.  Ask the Lord Jesus what He wills for you to pray.
Prayer is not merely meeting your needs, what you want, but it is praying what His
purpose is for you.  When you pray to The Heavenly Father, you are representing the
interest of Christ, not yours.

The following paragraphs are excerpts from The Renewed Mind, by Larry Christenson.

.*." up until now you have prayed in your own name.  You have asked for things that you wanted, prayed about things that
you had concern for, presented petitions to God in your own name.
But now, when I come back to you, you will begin to pray in My name.  Your first thought will not be, "Lord, help me, please
do this or bless that." Rather, you will pause and ask, "Lord, what is your purpose here?
What prayers do you want me to
pray?"
Instead of presenting your petitions to Jesus, you will begin to inquire about His purpose.  That's what it means to pray in
Jesus' Name.  You are preparing to be His representative, and in order to be that, you have to know what His purpose or
goal is so you can make it your own.
In practical terms this means that before we present a petition to God, we have to do some careful asking and listening.
"Lord Jesus what do you want here?  What is your prayer for this person?"  As we get quiet inside and listen, He will tell us
the kind of prayer which He wants us to offer the Father on this occasion.  When the Father sees that prayer, and notes the
trademark of His own Son on it, you'll be surprised how eager He is to close the deal.
There is no competition with God: He has a built-in favoritism for the prayers of Jesus. "
